Barlaston take the points from top-of-the-table clash

Hosts Barlaston managed to post 218-9 in the first half of the contest - an innings which saw healthy contributions throughout their order.

Charlie Fisher top-scored with 33, with Rory Jones (31), Jack Davies (29), Edward Seabridge (27), Alan Kiteley (20no), Sam Plant (17) and Brian Sims (15) all keeping the scoreboard ticking over.

Jack Winfield scooped 4-60 for Cheadle, with James Jackson striking twice.

In reply, Craig Grimley compiled a fine half-century to anchor the Cheadle chase.

Grimley hit 12 fours in his 67, while Ben Mellor weighed in with 36 and Sam Rushton added 24 not out.

However, Barlaston always held the upper hand and managed to dismiss Cheadle for 154.

Matthew Myers fronted the bowling effort with 4-25, backed up by Davies’ 3-47 and a couple of scalps for Jones.

Stone SP seconds prevailed on their trip to bottom-of-the-table Checkley 2nd XI.

Half-centuries from William Alsbury and Sam Butters were the principal early contributions to Stone SP’s innings.

Alsbury hit eight fours in his 55, with Butters stroking the same number in his 53.

However, Checkley impressed with the ball and reduced their visitors to 136-9.
