A SPECIAL centenary mural has been unveiled in the city centre.

- Sentinel Reporter

The 100 Years 100 Faces artwork celebrates a century of Stoke-on-Trent's diverse spirit and stories.

From music icons to renowned ceramicists and plenty of categories in between, the mural features lots of the faces you would expect, with lesser known figures' stories also being told.

The mural - on Marsh Street in Hanley - was unveiled at a ceremony on Saturday night. It has been commissioned and funded by Stoke-on-Trent City Centre Business Improvement District (BID). Local artists Rob Fenton and Alistair Barnett, pictured right, were responsible for producing the iconic mural.

A BID spokesman said: "This is your city, your history, your mural. Thank you to all who joined us for our 100 years, 100 faces mural unveiling."

TV judge Keith Brymer Jones is included on the mural - and was at Saturday's event. He said: "I'm honoured and privileged to be included on a mural of 100 influential people of Stoke-on-Trent. It really is quite incredible how so many creative and high-achieving people have come from The Potteries."
