Eight-year-old aimed to raise $40 from 50km cycle challenge for heart-start kit in memory of great aunt – but rode 65km and raked in nearly TEN times her target

A DETERMINED eight-year-old girl cycled more than 40 miles (65km) in 25 days to help a nursery buy vital lifesaving kit.

Amelia Condliffe was inspired by the loss of her great aunt from a heart attack to raise the cash for Southlands Nursery, in Wolstanton, which her 19-month-old brother attends.

Amelia had hoped to raise £40 towards new defibrillators - but her efforts brought in £375.

She dreamt up the challenge after hearing Southlands was hosting a summer fair to raise money for a community defibrillator.
