DEMONSTRATING its unwavering commitment to sustainability and operational excellence, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has recorded its best-ever techno-economic performance in the financial year 2024-25. This milestone reflects the plant's sustained focus on process optimization and energy efficiency, resulting in notable reductions in both production costs and carbon emissions.
RSP achieved its lowest-ever Specific Energy Consumption, registering 5.92 Giga Calories per Ton of Crude Steel (GCal/TCS), surpassing the previous benchmark of 5.984 GCal/TCS set in FY 2023-24. In parallel, the plant also set a new standard in water efficiency, with Specific Water Consumption dropping to an all-time low of 2.98 cubic metres per ton of crude steel (m3/TCS), improving on last year’s 3.01 m3/TCS.
