“QUALITY roads are the lifelines of development. Our priority is not just building infrastructure, but ensuring durability, connectivity, and timely delivery,” said Odisha Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, while chairing ‘the 37th State Standing Committee Meeting on the implementation of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) at Lok Seva Bhavan here on Tuesday.
The high-level meeting reviewed the progress of road and bridge construction across the state under PMGSY-I, II, III and PM-Janman schemes, with a strong focus on quality assurance, use of green technology, and time-bound project completion.
Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Rural Development Department, Yamini Sarangi, presented a comprehensive overview of achievements under the flagship rural connectivity programme. Odisha has constructed 17,560 roads spanning 70,692.63 km and 637 bridges, connecting 16,997 remote settlements to the mainstream road network.
