World Bank retains Phl 2025 growth outlook
The Philippine Star
|October 08, 2025
The World Bank has maintained its growth outlook for the Philippines for this year and the next amid global uncertainties.
The multilateral lender's October 2025 East Asia and Pacific Economic Update report released yesterday showed that it expects the Philippine economy to expand by 5.3 percent this year and by 5.4 percent next year.
These forecasts are unchanged from those provided by the World Bank last June.
Both forecasts are also below the government's growth target of 5.5 to 6.5 percent for 2025 and six to seven percent for 2026.
As of the first semester, the Philippine economy grew by 5.4 percent.
The World Bank expects the Philippines to post slightly faster growth next year due to domestic demand and a modest global recovery.
