Suspension lifted for 141 NFA staff in rice sale

|September 28, 2024
The suspension by the Office of the Ombudsman of 141 officials and personnel of the National Food Authority who were linked to the alleged anomalous sale of the government's pension of the NFA officials and personnel following the questionable sale of 75,000 bags of NFA rice to certain rice buffer stocks to favored private traders has been lifted, according to NFA Administrator Larry Lacson.
"All the 141 were able to return to work," Lacson said yesterday.
On March 4, the ombudsman ordered the six-month preventive suspension of the NFA officials and personnel following the questionable sale of 75,000 bags of NFA rice to certain traders.
Lacson said reforms are now being implemented to prevent similar incidents from happening.
