Phl humanitarian team resumes operations in Myanmar

The Philippine Inter-Agency Humanitarian Contingent (PIAHC) has resumed search and rescue operations for possible survivors at a collapsed hotel in Myanmar.

"Based on the latest situation report as of April 6, the PIAHC Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) Team resumed operations at the Jade City Hotel," the Department of Health reported yesterday.

The PIAHC has been actively engaged in critical search, rescue, retrieval and medical operations in Myanmar since their deployment last April 1.

The USAR team engaged in the retrieval of victims previously suspended its operations due to safety concerns.

The operational area has been organized into designated work-sites, with collaborative efforts from Search and Rescue teams from the Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia and Singapore alongside local Myanmar personnel.

Also yesterday, DOH reported that 25 contingents from PIAHC USAR Team are now in the city of Mandalay to help in search operations as well as deliver medical assistance.
