GSIS chief: Ombudsman acted on baseless allegations

Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) president and general manager Jose Arnulfo Veloso said the Office of the Ombudsman suspended him based solely on an anonymous complaint, noting that the order came before he could even submit a counter-affidavit that was allowed and filed on time.

Veloso said the preventive suspension was issued without the ombudsman considering his reply to the allegations, despite an order allowing him to do so until July 21 to refute the anonymous and unverified allegations.

"The ombudsman directed me to file my counter-affidavit and even granted an extension to allow me to file the same, so that I may refute the allegations made in the anonymous and unverified complaint," he said.
