Go calls for heightened vigilance amid surging flu cases

Amid surging flu cases in the country, Sen. Bong Go urged Filipinos to maintain heightened vigilance to protect their health and their families.

Go, chairman of the Senate committee on health and demography, said the Department of Health DOH) reported over 190,000 documented influenza-like illness ILI) cases in the country.

“Remember that health and caring for each other are important. This is the gift we should cherish this Christmas. The equivalent of health is the life of every Filipino,” he said in Filipino.

The senator, together with DOH officials, appealed for the need for continued mask usage, despite its voluntary nature. Influenza-like illnesses, characterized by symptoms such as fever, cough and body aches, pose a significant challenge, especially in densely populated areas.

Go expressed his deep concern over the escalating public health concern, especially amid the holiday season.

“Each one of us needs to be more vigilant and responsible in our daily activities,” he said.
