Filipino lawyer advocates for economic inclusivity, capital access
The Philippine Star
|June 02, 2024
"Mergers and acquisitions are more than just business transactions," Roxanne Mercado, a Filipino lawyer in the United States, begins.
"It provides opportunities to democratize access to capital, allowing smaller businesses to innovate and compete on a larger scale." This statement is probably Mercado's guiding principle, the north star that keeps her on the path of advocating economic security in the US.
The corporate lawyer also works to create opportunities for business innovation and expansion - an advocacy that can positively impact families, communities, and the US economy.
"When done right, M&A can attract more investments, create jobs, and stimulate local economies," Mercado continues. "It is about making a tangible difference in people's lives."
Sterling record
Mercado is a graduate of the Ateneo de Manila University, one of the country's top universities. She went on to attend and graduate from Columbia Law School, becoming a dual-qualified corporate lawyer in both the Philippines and the US. She is currently a senior associate at a distinguished law firm in New York.
