DTI updating standards for cement

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is updating its regulatory framework for cement as part of its aim to ensure that safe and durable materials are used for the country’s infrastructure.

In a statement yesterday, Trade Secretary Cristina Roque said there is a need to upgrade quality standards for cement as the country is prone to natural disasters.

“Given our country’s vulnerability to natural disasters, we must ensure that all construction materials, including cement, meet the highest quality and safety standards,” she said.

“This ensures the safety of the Filipinos, starting from the foundational materials of our homes and buildings,” she also said.
