The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) leads this year's observance with the theme "Build Homes, Build Happiness." It serves as a reminder that housing is not only about construction but also about dignity, security, and opportunity.

The celebration brings together the government, private sector, and key shelter agencies in a shared commitment to provide safe and livable homes for every Filipino family. Under the leadership of Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling, DHSUD upholds housing as both a right and a cornerstone of a humane and resilient society.

National Shelter Month 2025: Building homes, building happiness

The month of October once again places housing at the heart of national priorities as DHSUD formally opened the National Shelter Month (NSM) 2025 celebration, reaffirming the central role of housing in national development and social stability.

This year's theme, "Build Homes, Build Happiness," embodies DHSUD's call for solidarity among its key shelter agencies, private developers, and housing stakeholders in advancing the vision of dignified, safe, and affordable homes for Filipino families.

Secretary Aliling underscored that the theme represents more than a campaign-it is a declaration of purpose aligned with the Bagong Pilipinas vision of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

"Following the directive of President Marcos, we are committed to advancing dignified living through decent housing and efficient, transparent public service," Secretary Aliling stated.

Nationwide, DHSUD regional offices and key shelter agencies are holding simultaneous events-from policy forums and community caravans to livelihood programs and project site visits-each reinforcing a shared truth: housing is both a right and a shared national responsibility.

Housing as the cornerstone of stability
