AFP Beefing Up Capabilities vs. China Sleeper Cells

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) is boosting its asymmetric warfare capabilities as part of efforts to protect the country from potential threats, including the alleged presence of Chinese sleeper cells.

Rear Adm. Roy Vincent Trinidad, Philippine Navy spokesman for the West Philippine Sea, said the AFP's modernization program emphasizes unconventional warfare, which is less costly than traditional military hardware but remains effective.

"This is part of what our Department of National Defense is looking at in the modernization program how to leverage technology not only for offensive purposes but, more importantly, for defense," he said in Filipino at the Saturday News Forum in Quezon City.
