£86bn boost for science in 'modern industrial strategy'

A boost to science and technology worth £86bn will be announced in the spending review on Wednesday to “turbocharge” the economy and fuel cutting-edge research.
Rachel Reeves, the chancellor, will set out plans to invest £22.5bn a year by 2029-30 in the fastest growing sectors including life sciences, advanced manufacturing and defence as part of a “modern industrial strategy”.
