LG Mishra reviews e-auction arrangements for minor mineral blocks

Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), chaired a high-level meeting at Raj Niwas to review the arrangements for the e-auction of minor mineral blocks and plots in the Union Territory. The meeting was attended by senior officials both physically and virtually.

Principal Secretary Sanjeev Khirwar, IAS, briefed the Lieutenant Governor on the classification of minor minerals under Section 3(e) of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act, 1957. He highlighted that minor minerals include building stones, gravel, ordinary clay and sand, and other such materials notified by the central government. He also clarified that the state governments are empowered to formulate rules for the regulation of these minerals under the same Act.
