IN a bizarre incident, a doctor at the Government Medical College Hospital in Kozhikode, Kerala, operated on the tongue of a four-year-old girl, who was brought to the hospital for a surgical procedure to remove her sixth finger.

According to the girl's family, the child was brought to the hospital on Thursday morning for the finger surgery. After the hour-long procedure, the child was brought to the ward, which was when the parents noticed cotton stuffed in her mouth. And her sixth finger hadn't been touched. The parents immediately flagged the error to a nurse, who allegedly mocked them. The family then escalated the matter and also lodged a police complant.
