A recruitment rally for the Territorial Army turned chaotic in Uttarakhand's Pithoragarh as a massive crowd of unemployed youth surged at the venue, leading to pushing and shoving among the aspirants trying to gain entry.

According to officials, despite attempts by the administration to control the situation, the crowd became unruly. Several young men climbed over the gates, resulting in further disorder at the site.

"Over 25,000 unemployed youth unexpectedly gathered at the rally, overwhelming local resources and prompting urgent intervention," an official said. "Police were deployed to disperse the crowd. Police also resorted to a lathi-charge," he said. Reports indicate that several aspirants sustained injuries during the police action.
