THE Congress, which rode to power on an anti-corruption plank, suffered its first casualty on Thursday when B Nagendra resigned as Scheduled Tribes Welfare Minister over the alleged misappropriation of funds in the ST development corporation.
Nagendra is alleged to have played an important role in the illegal transfer of 187 crore from the corporation's bank accounts to some accounts of corporates in Hyderabad. He is alleged to have given "oral orders" to transfer the money.
