Conrad begins coal mining after decade-long ban

AFTER a decade-long ban on rat-hole coal mining imposed by the National Green Tribunal (NGT), Meghalaya CM Conrad K Sangma on Sunday virtually inaugurated the state's first scientific coal mine in the Byndihati area of East Jaintia Hills district.
Sangma lauded the officials concerned, mine owners and mining lease applicants for their role in making scientific mining a reality in the state.
