AIADMK seeks CBI probe into irregularities in DBT in Pondy

THE AIADMK called for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe on Friday into what it claims are widespread irregularities in the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system, which distributes cash benefits under various welfare schemes to beneficiaries in Puducherry.
During a press conference at the party office, AIADMK state secretary A Anbalagan alleged that these irregularities are occurring across various departments, including Women and Child Development, Adi Dravidian Welfare, Social Welfare, Revenue, and Fishermen Welfare.
Anbalagan said that over 90% of welfare benefits are disbursed through the DBT mechanism. However, he pointed out that this system has resulted in significant shortcomings, particularly impacting rural beneficiaries.
