Relief formula 'flawed': BKS state general secretary RK Patel slammed the relief model, questioned how the same relief could apply to both 25% and 100% crop losses

- DILIP SINGH KSHATRIYA

THE Gujarat government's ₹10,000 crore agricultural relief package, meant to soothe farmers' wounds battered by unseasonal rains, has ignited political dissent in the BJP and its associated groups.

The Bharatiya Kisan Sangh (BKS), farmers' wing of the RSS, has questioned the criteria employed by the government to arrive at the compensation logic. Its state general secretary, R K Patel, said, "It is unclear on what basis this relief has been calculated. The amount announced is nothing compared to the actual losses suffered by farmers."
