Gujarat ends post-matric scholarship for ST students in management quota
The New Indian Express Tirupati
|February 26, 2025
OPPOSITION legislators were evicted from the Gujarat Assembly on Tuesday following their vociferous protest over the government's admission that the Centre-funded Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme for Scheduled Tribe students will no longer apply to those admitted under the management quota from 2024-25.
The education minister's justification failed to pacify the Congress and AAP MLAs who stormed into the well of the House. That led to their eviction.
During Question Hour, AAP MLA Chaitar Vasava asked the government whether it had scrapped the scholarship scheme. The tribal development ministry confirmed the discontinuation, acknowledging the policy shift.
