IN a setback to Pakistan, the World Bank has dismissed as rumours that it will intervene to resolve the matter of India suspending the bilateral Indus Waters Treaty (IWT).

World Bank president Ajay Banga, currently in India on a private visit to attend events in UP, clarified that the bank's role is only that of a facilitator between the two countries.

Responding to a direct question about the bank's intervention, he said: "It's all bunk."
