IN a rare display of warmth and a departure from usual protocol, Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally went to the airport on Monday to welcome the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, who arrived in India for a two-day visit.

During his visit, the Emir is scheduled to meet with President Droupadi Murmu and hold talks with Prime Minister Modi on Tuesday.

"Went to the airport to welcome my brother, Amir of Qatar H.H. Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani. Wishing him a fruitful stay in India and looking forward to our meeting tomorrow," the Prime Minister said on Twitter.
