THE Bihar Police on Monday busted a fake police station that had been operating from the premises of a government school in Mohini village of Purnea district.

However, Rahul Kumar Sah, the alleged mastermind, is currently absconding, and the police have launched a manhunt to nab him. Superintendent of Police (SP), Purnea Kartikey Sharma said that a special police team has been constituted to investigate the matter.

According to police, Sah posed as a recruiter for what was called 'Gramin Raksha Dal', charging the local youth between ₹2,500 and ₹5,000 for the "supposed" appointments as constables and chowkidars. After enrolling them, he would hand out police uniforms, batons, and fake identity cards, and assign tasks, including vehicle checks and raids targeting liquor smugglers.
