Vigilance to set up team to probe irregularities

Allegations include revising bidding amount and appointment of candidates for re-survey

THE Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB)'s primary verification into the alleged irregularities in the purchase of equipment for digital resurvey in the state has recommended the Vigilance department to form a team of experts for conducting a detailed probe into the issue.

Documents accessed through Right to Information application filed by Shaji Kodankandath, KPCC secretary, have revealed that the primary verification of documents and procedures related to digital resurvey has found irregularities in the purchase of equipment.

When specifications of equipment were changed, retenders were not floated to procure the items, it was alleged. However, the vigilance report stated that in order to implement a big project in a short span of time, such relaxations may be necessary.
