THE PALAKKAD district collector has intervened in the growing concern over government doctors allegedly prescribing costly branded medicines instead of affordable generic alternatives.
In a formal letter to the district medical officer, the collector expressed serious concern over the non-compliance with government directives, despite clear guidelines from the Central Civil Services Conduct Rules and the Supreme Court mandating the promotion of generic drugs.
