Excise team foils GPS-aided drug smuggling bid; 2 held

The Mananthavady excise team have arrested two smugglers who used a GPS (Global Positioning System) to carry out drug smuggling.

The arrested are Kadampuzha Salih, 35 and M Abdul Khader, 38. The excise team also seized 200g of MDMA and 2kg of ganja, which were being sent in parcels from Bengaluru to Tirur in a private bus.

The accused were using GPS to monitor to determine the exact location of the parcel. The drugs were seized during a vehicle inspection at the Tholpetty check post around 4am on Saturday, conducted by a team from the Mananthavady Excise Circle Office and the Tholpetty Excise Check Post.
