Adichilthotti Unnathi hamlet battles the odds to script success in farming

Govt honoured them with 2nd prize among tribal settlements practising organic farming

AT A TIME when climate change and wild-animal attacks have been posing a threat to farming in the state, residents of Adichilthotti Unnathi, in Athirappilly panchayat, have been scripting a success story, by battling all odds.

Their efforts were rewarded when the state government honoured Adichilthotti with the second prize among tribal settlements practising organic farming.

Around ten families have been actively involved in farming on 110 acres of land allocated to them for agricultural purposes. Situated nearly 4 km inside the forest, Adichilthotti didn't even have a proper road until recently.
