Though BJP-led NDA nominee C.P. Radhakrishnan holds an edge in the Vice-Presidential race due to the NDA's strength in both Houses of Parliament, the Opposition's candidate, retired Justice B. Sudershan Reddy, has added a sharp regional flavour—framing the contest as a "South vs. South" or "Tamil Pride vs. Telugu Pride".
Both the NDA and the Congress-led INDIA bloc appear unusually focused on southern India this time.
