Comes a day after SC asks EC, govt to ensure the process is done smoothly

- SUBHENDU MAITI @Kolkata

VANDALISM at the hearing centres of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and road blockades continued on Tuesday for another day in parts of West Bengal.

Clashes and lawlessness were reported at hearing centres held at buildings of government offices like sub-divisional officer (SDO) buildings in districts like South 24-Parganas, Hooghly and North 24-Parganas. On Monday, the top court issued a battery of directions to the poll panel and the Mamata Banerjee government to ensure that the ongoing SIR process in the state is conducted smoothly.
