A 22-year-old deaf-mute woman was allegedly abducted and gangraped by two men in the Bahadurpur area on the outskirts of Balrampur district in central UP on Monday night.
The incident gained widespread attention after viral CCTV footage showed the victim running for her life from bike-borne men on a deserted road, and the two perpetrators finally catching her.
The incident took place just a kilometre from the homes of several high-ranking government officials, raising serious concerns about security in the area. It occurred when the woman was walking back home from her maternal uncle's house, a kilometre away.
