ELECTIONS were held for the post of directors for the prestigious arecanut board-- Malenadu Areca Marketing Cooperative Society (MAMCOS)-- here on Tuesday and about 60-70 percent polling was done by 4 pm in the evening.
The elections to the post of 19 directors for the MAMCOS Board went on peacefully barring an incident of confusion in Shivamogga city.
Both BJP and Congress parties fielded their candidates by constituting their own teams under the banner of Sahakara Bharati and Rashtriya Sahakara Pratishthana, respectively.
