Forum warns of agitation if govt fails to remove tollgate on SH-57

THE Tollgate Virodhi Horata Samiti will launch an agitation in the coming days if elected representatives fail to raise the issue of toll collection on the Shivamogga-Shikaripura-Shiralakoppa-Tadasa stretch of State Highway-57 during the upcoming monsoon session of the state legislature, said Shivaraj, advocate and president of the Samiti.
Addressing reporters on Wednesday, Shivaraj said the tollgate, set up in 2022, remains in place despite year-long protests and campaigns by the Samiti and local residents.
He alleged that elected representatives and officials have failed to take the issue seriously or act on the demands to remove it.
