Girl drowns after falling into open sump

A seven-year-old girl died after reportedly falling into an uncovered underground tank at the newly-inaugurated EWS housing complex of the Rourkela Development Authority (RDA) here on Wednesday evening.
The deceased was identified as Sarun Badaik, the only child of Rohit Badaik who works in Mumbai as a labourer.
Sources said Sarun went missing in the evening and a couple of hours later, was found dead in the water-filled sump.
The tragic mishap was waiting to happen as the mouth of the underground tank built parallel to the floor was left without cover.
