The Congress on Sunday accused the Centre of having "misled" the country about Operation Sindoor, citing reported remarks by India's Defence Attaché to Indonesia, who allegedly said that the Indian Air Force lost fighter jets during the strikes on May 7.

- EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE @ New Delhi

The Indian Embassy in Jakarta, however, strongly denied the reports, stating that the attaché's comments were "quoted out of context" and that the media coverage was a "misrepresentation of the intention and thrust of the presentation made by the speaker."

The embassy clarified that the officer's remarks focused on India's tradition of civilian-led military leadership and the non-escalatory intent behind Operation Sindoor.

"The objective of Operation Sindoor was to target terrorist infrastructure and the Indian response was non-escalatory," the statement read.
