Bird flu scare leads to closure of three UP zoos, lion safari

THE death of a tigress in Gorakhpur zoo due to bird flu prompted closure of Lucknow, Kanpur and Gorakhpur zoos in UP as well as Etawah Lion Safari for a week.
All tiger reserves in the state have been directed to be on high alert. Wildlife authorities got alerted after the death of over two-year-old tigress Shakti at Gorakhpur zoo on May 7.
