Innovations in Food Tech Can Make India Viksit Sukha Bharat, Says DST Ex-Secy

DEPARTMENT of Science and Technology (DST) former secretary T Ramasami said Viksit Bharat is not just a statement but it is the wish of everyone in the nation.

Inaugurating the National Science Day celebration 2025 during CSIR-CFTRI platinum jubilee lecture series 2024-25 by Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI) on Friday, Ramasami said the research institute should lead the change from Viksit Bharat to Viksit Sukha Bharat. It needs careful social engineering and democratisation of innovations.

"An attempt was made to raise the needed transformation of the agriculture, manufacturing and service sectors of India for realising the benefits of Viksit Bharat. 2023, India became the fifth largest economy with GDP size of $3.95 trillion with per capita GDP of $2,845, however the US per capita GDP was $11,000," he said.
