CGWB drills borewell to recharge groundwater at UoM

The project will also help students of the Department of Earth Science to study rock formation at various levels

IN a novel initiative, the University of Mysore's Department of Earth Science in association with Central Ground Water Board launched the work to dig a borewell, construct a recharge pit and a rainwater harvesting system to study the rock formation for the benefit of the research activities conducted by the students, to recharge the groundwater and also to supply water to departments and students' hostels on the Manasagangotri campus.

UoM registrar M K Savitha launched the activities by pressing the start button of the borewell drilling rig in front of the Department of Earth Science building on Friday.
