Unprotected quarry pits pose threat to people

DISTRICT authorities have been urged to take up precautionary measures and prevent deaths due to drowning in open quarries, especially those abandoned ones which remain without fences and unfilled, posing a threat during the monsoon.

Muneer Katipalla, an activist from the city, said many children and youth have lost their lives in the past while playing or accidentally falling into quarries that are unprotected.
