Say schools should have taken their opinions before taking a decision

- Divya Coutinho @Mangaluru

SOME private schools in Mangaluru have set an early deadline for transfer certificates (TC) much to the discomfort of parents.

While schools have asked parents to inform them before February 15 if they want TC, parents say it's too early to know about transfers and take a decision, as they will have a clear picture about it only after April.

"Parents who fail to inform the school in advance and later request a TC in April/May 2025 will be required to pay the school fees for two months of the first term of the next academic year," said a notification from Lourdes Central School, Bejai.

A government employee, whose daughter studies in a CBSE school in Mysuru said many schools have been issuing such deadlines and the school authorities where his daughter is studying have also asked to notify in writing about TC by February 20. Usually transfers happen between April to June. At least they could have held a parent-teacher meeting and brought to the notice of the parents and taken their opinions before issuing such circulars, parents opine.
