MP Bats For Joint DPR On Rail, Road Projects Through Shirady Ghat

DAKSHINA Kannada MP Capt Brijesh Chowta has requested Union Ministers for Road Transport and Highways and Railways to jointly conduct a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the development of the highway and rail network through Shirady Ghat that connects the coastal region with the state's capital.

Talking to reporters here on Thursday, Chowta argued that the joint DPR will minimise the impact on the environment from these projects, besides hastening the process of getting necessary clearances from various agencies. He said he has spoken to the Union Ministers and also raised the matter with the Railway Board during the recent Lok Sabha session and added that they are positive about it.
