Movie ticket price to be capped at Rs 200, Kannada filmdom gets industry status

IN some good news for movie buffs, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced that ticket prices in theatres across the state, including multiplexes, will be capped at Rs 200.
However, it has to be seen whether the move will be sustained, as an order issued to this effect during the previous Siddaramaiah-led Congress government in 2017 was challenged before the court and it could not be implemented.
Also, the long-pending demand of the Kannada film fraternity to grant it an "industry" status has been fulfilled. The CM announced that the cinema sector will be given the status of an industry and facilities provided under the Industrial Policy will be extended to the film industry.
