Christians Take Out Rally in M'luru Against Arrest of Nuns in Chhattisgarh
The New Indian Express Mangaluru
|August 05, 2025
Hundreds of Christians, including social activists and religious leaders, staged a protest in Mangaluru on Monday, condemning the arrest of two Catholic nuns and a tribal youth in Chhattisgarh.
The trio was detained on charges of religious conversion and human trafficking, allegations the protestors dismissed as baseless and politically driven.
Marching through the city with banners and placards, the demonstrators voiced strong opposition to what they described as a targeted attack on minority communities. Slogans like "Freedom is for all, not just the majority," "They love India but hate the women who serve it," and "Respect Article 25 of the Constitution" reflected their call for justice, equal rights, and protection of religious freedoms.
