Gram panchayats and urban local bodies should work in coordination with the Revenue department in natural disaster management

- EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE @ Mangaluru

Legislative Assembly Speaker and Mangaluru MLA U.T. Khader said that delay in granting facilities to beneficiaries of government schemes and victims of natural disasters on the pretext of lack of documents will not be tolerated.

Chairing a meeting on drinking water projects and flood and drought relief works in Ullal, Khader said he has received complaints from the public about delay in providing compensation to the victims due to lack of documents when various natural disasters like rain damage, house collapse, and wild animal attacks occur. Although it is true that the incidents have taken place, the public are not yet compensated. In this regard, the officials should visit the respective places, confirm the incidents and distribute the compensation quickly, he strictly instructed.

Further, he said Gram Panchayats and urban local bodies should work in coordination with the Revenue Department in Natural Disaster Management. The Speaker said that it is not right to deny relief to people on suspicion.
