PREGNANT women complain they face hardship as staff and nurses in the District Headquarters Hospital at Usilampatti refuse ECG and ECHO tests if they do not wear a saree.
Women in their fourth or fifth month of pregnancy, referred from nearby Primary Health Centres (PHCs) for antenatal heart monitoring to the Usilampatti hospital. But nurses and staff in the diagnostic department turn them away and tell them to change into sarees to undergo the tests.
