Teen alleges police assault after mistaken identity

THE Kerala State Human Rights Commission has registered a case following a complaint from 18-year-old Adhil P, who alleges he was assaulted by police officers in Meppayur after being mistakenly identified as a suspect in a kidnapping case.
Adhil, a resident of Cheruvannur, claims that the attack has adversely affected his hearing. Despite his complaint, the police are yet to register a case, saying they are still in the preliminary inquiry stage and gathering witness testimonies.
