No consensus on alignment: Coastal highway project in dist hits roadblock

As per estimates, first reach requires 25 hectares of land, second 9 ha and third 23 ha

THE construction of the coastal highway in the district's three reaches has come to a standstill, with alignment disputes and procedural delays stalling progress.

In the first and second reaches, the alignment has not been finalised. Although the alignment of the second reach has been determined and a social impact study report has been prepared, the decision of the expert committee on the report is still pending.

In the first reach, the alignment has been revised in the Eravipuram and Mundakkal sections.
