E-comm platform Meesho files for ₹8,500 cr IPO

LOW-COST e-commerce platform Meesho on Thursday filed the draft red herring prospectus via the confidential route with the markets regulator Sebi, looking to raise ₹4,250 crore in primary capital and a similar amount in secondary share sales.

With this, Meesho moves a step closer to listing and also joins a growing list of new-age companies like Pine Labs, Wakefit, Curefoods and Shadowfax which have already done so. These issues will be much higher given that new-age companies hit the street primarily to give an exit route to their external investors who sell their holding through offer-for-sale (OFS) route during the IPO.
